SALADO - LéXICO DE URUGUAY

Como interjección significa algo así como “amazing”. Generalmente con una connotación negativa, aunque no siempre. “¡Qué salado!”, o simplemente “¡salado!”.
Como adjetivo, suele significar algo así como “difícil” o “complicado”. En este sentido, se usa con “estar”: “el examen estuvo salado”.
También puede significar “grande”. Por ejemplo, hablando de un tipo muy musculoso: “ese loco está salado” = “that guy is really big”. También he escuchado decir “ese tipo es una sal”. En este sentido, también puede significar “he’s really tough”. Depende del contexto. Otro ejemplo: “Peñarol está salado” = “Peñarol is a really tough team”.
Hablando de un músico: “el baterista está salado” = “the drummer is amazing”, “he’s really got the chops”.
En estos últimos casos, se puede usar con “ser” o “estar”, pero el sentido cambia un poco. Generalmente (pero no siempre):

Juan es un salado = “Juan is really good at what he does”, “he is one of the best”
Juan está salado = “Juan is really big/ well-built”


En resumen, creo que básicamente tiene estos significados:

1. “Amazing”, en sentido positivo o negativo
2. “Something very difficult to deal with”
3. “Someone very big, intimidating, or very tough to beat”

...Y la más obvia, que también se usa en Uruguay:

4. “A salty food”.
